Yosemite – The quarterly meeting in January will be a conversation with public land managers from California State Parks, Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service as well as a speaker / volunteer leader from Recreate Responsably California Coalition.
9:30 am – Open Mic Chat Community
10:00 am – Main topic of the meeting
11:00 am – Yosemite National Park update
The last 20 months of the COVID-19 pandemic have created many challenges for managers of public lands. Over the past couple of years we’ve heard about these challenges inside Yosemite, but what about the public lands surrounding Yosemite and the greater region? These public land leaders will discuss the unique challenges they faced, worked and found solutions. Not only with the pandemic, but also with the extreme fire danger and fires as well as an increase in visits when Yosemite implemented the temporary reservation systems.
Recreate Responsably California Coalition is a group of more than 40 agencies, nonprofits, and outdoor businesses. They are like-minded people who focus on solutions, educating the public, and creating communication and education resources. The group is made up of like-minded volunteers and professionals who care about our public lands. Participants include many regional and local public land managers, leaders of non-profit organizations, business owners, recreation advocates and tourism-oriented people.
Speakers will be announced shortly. We look forward to your presence as well as your questions and discussions.
