Frackville State Police reported the following incidents in Schuylkill County.
• On November 15 at 8:03 pm, soldiers reported that a rear-end crash had occurred along Valley Street on Ferndale Road in New Philadelphia. The striking vehicle fled but was located a short distance away. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle but the driver continued to flee. A short chase ensues, the driver of the fleeing vehicle loses control and crashes.
The driver has been identified as Darion Turner, 26, of Reading. She was found under the influence and in possession of an unlicensed loaded firearm, which was also reported stolen.
She was taken into police custody and charged with receiving stolen property and fleeing or attempting to escape the police, both crimes; and DUI counts, firearms not to carry without a license, accidents involving damage to monitored vehicles / property, and motor vehicle code violations. She was brought to justice before a district judge and released on bail.
The driver of the other vehicle involved, a 68-year-old man from Port Carbon, was not injured.
• Soldiers said Derek Varner, 41, of Lansford, was charged with harassment – physical contact, following an incident on November 20 at 6:25 am along Tamaqua Street in Township by Rush. The soldiers said Varner and a 29-year-old woman from Tamaqua were involved in an argument that turned physical when Varner allegedly pushed the woman to the ground and slapped her face.
Frackville State Police reported the following arrests by soldiers at locations in Schuylkill County.
• On November 26 at 12:25 pm, soldiers conducted a traffic check along Highway 61 in Frackville. The driver has been identified as Jones Novas-Espinosa, 23, from the town of Mahanoy. It was determined that Novas-Espinosa had a felony arrest warrant issued outside Luzerne County by the Sheriff’s Department. He was taken into custody and incarcerated in the Pottsville County Jail, pending his transfer to Luzerne County authorities.
