Business owners? Say Goodbye to Facebook Car, Real Estate Ad

Meta, or Facebook, announced a major change coming to its Marketplace in January 2023.

No more Company advertisements of vehicles or real estate on the market place

According to Meta, information published Thursday, September 29:

“As of January 30, 2023, Meta will no longer support the ability for all sellers to create vehicle and real estate/rental listings using a Facebook business page, as well as the of vehicles and the inventory management tab in markets where this functionality is currently available.

Facebook says free person-to-person vehicle and real estate ads will continue and they said the ability to reach people through ads will not change. So why fire companies?

According to Facebook:

“We’re just changing the way we allocate inventory.” That doesn’t really answer anyone’s questions.

According to Facebook, the relevant markets will be:

  • “Vehicles: United States (US), Canada (CA), France (FR), United Kingdom (GB), Mexico (MX), Brazil (BR), Indonesia (ID), Germany (DE), Australia (AU)

  • Real Estate or Rentals: United States (United States)”

So, perhaps some enterprising business owners will create new “personal” pages from which they can distribute their content through the Marketplace. The games of cat and mouse or mole with Facebook continue.
