Blasphemy: Gumi condemns the murder of Deborah

Kaduna-based Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi warned Muslims against killing other human beings because of trivial matters; insisting that the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) was insulted and despised but never killed in retaliation.
Gumi, who was reacting to the horrific murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto, said any Muslim who kills a Christian in Nigeria because the Prophet was insulted will not smell the scent of Jannah (heaven).
“Nigeria is not an Islamic state, Muslims in the country have made an agreement with people of other faiths to live together in peace and whoever kills them under religious guise has committed a grave sin,” he said. declared.
Gumi spoke while preaching at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna.
He went after some Muslim clerics who quote verses they don’t understand and tell people to kill anyone who insults their religion.
He quoted Quranic verses, saying that killing a non-Muslim on the pretext that the person has uttered a blasphemous statement against the Prophet Muhammad is no excuse, “because Allah has told us in the Quran, non-Muslims Muslims will insult Allah and His Prophet.
“In fact, now is when the blasphemy will start after the murder of this lady in Sokoto, the insult will increase, not decrease,” he said.
“Muslims in Nigeria who want to defend the Prophet Muhammad should be ashamed of themselves because they are corrupt. The best way forward if we want to defend the Prophet is to follow his teachings.
“We clerics need to wake up and teach Muslims their religion. We must get out of this state of ignorance, we have become like animals. We Muslims are not alone in this country.
“It is not only that we are not the only ones in this country, we must know that, there was nothing the disbelievers did to Prophet Muhammad, but he was patient, as he was aware that if he killed them, the disbelievers whom he was trying to bring back to the fold of Islam would call him a killer.
“There are people who are neither Muslim nor Christian in Nigeria, and everyone is trying to win their soul. Also, there are people who are not Muslims, to whom we preach Islam, so that they can enter the bosom of Islam and be saved in the hereafter.
“If we now start killing people, they will say that it is even from the leader of our faith, the Prophet Muhammad, that we learned it. They will say that their religion is a religion of blood. At a time when we trying to draw people’s attention to the beauty of Islam, we are scaring them now.
“It is unfortunate that we even see clerics telling people that whoever insults your religion, kill him. They quote verses they do not understand. No one has the will to kill anyone except through the Islamic justice system. And in doing so, the conditions for such justice must be met before anyone can be killed.
“Our religion is a civilized religion. White people learned the rule of law from Islam. But today, we are the ones who are at that level of lack of civilization, as an Islamic cleric quotes the Quran and Hadith, propagating and encouraging barbarism.
“People who have not been able to perfect their own acts of worship as they are supposed to. People who do not know how to pray properly are now those who say they want to bring justice to people who commit blasphemy.
“What people don’t know is that from the Islamic perspective, the world is divided into two, the Islamic world and the non-Islamic world, that is, the countries that are ruled by law Islamic and those governed by other laws. .
“Those who are not Muslims are divided in two; there are non-Muslims with whom you make war, and there are non-Muslims with whom you agree. The ones you agree with are also split in half; those who live under Islamic laws and those who are not bound by Islamic laws.
“Non-Muslims in Nigeria do not live under Islamic laws, we all have an agreement under the Nigerian Constitution to live together. So, Prophet Muhammad said that whoever kills a soul of non-Muslim who is under such an agreement to live together, will not smell the fragrance of paradise, the distance of such a person to paradise will be like a 40-year journey .
“Killing a non-Muslim on the pretext that the person has uttered a blasphemous statement against the Prophet Muhammad is no excuse, because Allah has told us in the Quran that non-Muslims will insult Allah and His Prophet. t is now that the blasphemy will begin after the murder of this lady in Sokoto, the insult will increase, not decrease.
“What Allah has asked us to deal with blasphemy in a society like ours is to be patient and to preach to people and make them understand our religion. In our type of society we have no right to kill for blasphemy, otherwise even many people who call themselves Islamic religious have also been killed because they fell into blasphemy by calling Allah human being or saying they know tomorrow or those who indirectly turned to Babalawo.
“The Prophet told us that a time will come towards the end of time when people will want to take the lives of others. So, he said, instead of doing that, it’s better that you look for a rock and box it, so that you don’t feel like killing all the time.
“So who are we giving justice to when it comes to blasphemy? It is authority. We have no right to take up arms and kill anyone except in self-defense, such as when someone comes to kill you or an armed robber invades your home. You are not the one who defends Islam; in fact, you complicate the work of those who call people to Islam.
“The right thing that the students who killed the lady in Sokoto should do is report her to the school management and then the management reports to the governor or sultan so they know how to stop her. Just by hearing him commit blasphemy, you went to do him justice in the jungle, who taught you that? What do you want our country to become? We must get out of these acts of barbarism.
“Is it even us Muslims in Nigeria who want to defend the Prophet Muhammad? We who are corrupt? We who cannot even be differentiated from unbelievers in acts of corruption.
He said that the best way to go if we want to defend the Prophet is to follow his example by standing up on all fronts.
